Organisation

The Danish Design Research Centre consists of a representative body of design researchers. The body includes up to two members from each of the eight Danish universities as well as individual design researchers from the public or private sector. The representative body appoints new members in consensus. The representative body also appoints the board consisting of a centre director, a deputy director, a funding coordinator, and an alternate. The board is appointed for a two-year period

Board

The board directs the day-to-day management of the centre. The board is responsible for representing or delegating representation in national (e.g., consultations and collaborations) and international contexts (e.g., Design Research Society and IASDR). It also plans the representative body’s annual meetings and seeks funding for the centre’s operations.

Design research is a genre of research that combines the social sciences, humanities, and engineering. It can develop methods to understand the world in a new light and create concrete proposals for alternative possible futures. Design research is key to remaking and rethinking many of the challenges Denmark and the world face, such as climate change, increasing social insecurity, unsustainable production and architecture, and transformations in the care and healthcare sectors.
