Andreas Kornmaaler Hansen is an Assistant Professor at AAU Design Lab, where his research focuses on enhancing sustainability in manufacturing. He explores strategies for product lifetime extension through repair, the reuse of ‘new waste’ in product manufacturing, and the role of interorganizational collaboration. He primarily works with small- and medium-sized manufacturing companies, investigating how they can integrate sustainable practices into production. He earned his PhD in 2024, during which he examined the human competencies required for digital transformation in small firms. Andreas’ work emphasizes the critical role of people within organizations, the benefits of collaborative approaches, and the challenges companies face when navigating uncertainty—such as experimenting with reusing scraps and waste materials from manufacturing environments.
