DCDR has up to two members from each of the country's eight universities serving on the representative board (up to 16 members). Members are appointed by the representative board in collaboration with each university. From the representative board, a center leader, a deputy center leader, and a treasurer are appointed to form the center's executive board.

Representative Council
The representative board meets twice a year to plan the center's upcoming activities. Ad hoc working groups can be established on current topics to address matters between the two meetings.
The board of directors
The board is responsible for representing or delegating representation in national contexts (e.g., consultation responses, collaborations) and international contexts (e.g., Design Research Society and similar organizations).
