Eva Brandt (PhD from 2001) is docent in design (2023 -) at Business Academy Copenhagen. Before this she was full professor in social design at Design School Kolding (DSKD, 2019 -2023). From 2005 – 2019 she was associate professor (and from 2015 – 2019 professor MSO) in codesign at the Danish Design School / The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design. With more than 30 years in the field she is one of the leading researchers in Denmark within practice-based design research, where the overall ambition is to contribute to creating sustainable futures for all. Eva has a special interest in developing knowledge on approaches and methods for dealing with complex civil challenges through collaborative design (codesign)/ participatory design/design-anthropology processes that include trans-disciplinary collaborations across institutional boundaries and with citizens at large. Eva contributes with knowledge e.g. on democratic design experiments, participation and learning in design, especially on collaborative methods and approaches for how designers can stage and perform open design processes (design labs and living labs) where a diverse group of participants can both familiarize existing practices and explore and rehearse possible futures collaboratively. At EK Eva is co-leader of the new strategic research environment ‘Social design, use and consumption’. Eva has published more than 80 books, articles, and papers. She has been reviewer and member of the program committee of numerous international conferences and regarding journal publications and has a broad international network with close relations to researchers on all continents. She has supervised 9 finalized PhD projects, been in the assessment committee for 18 PhD dissertations and regarding six professor positions. Presently, she is supervisor on one ongoing PhD project. Eva has been co-chairing the international NORDES conference in 2013, and 2021.
